Management Information Services

Plan, coordinate and direct all information technology, telecommunications services, and data and voice communication services, including wireless telephone and pager services utilized by the City staff. Operate computer centers, a citywide data communications wide area network, and a county-wide library network maintaining optimum levels of reliability, accessibility and serviceability. Review all requests for acquisition of computer, telephone, pager and telecommunications equipment and associated software by City departments, to ensure consistency with City standards, long-range objectives, and cost effectiveness guidelines. Plan, coordinate and implement major new computer, telephone, telecommunications systems and automated software applications throughout the City and surrounding county locations where City operations are located. Provide for continuity of computer center, telephone system, and data network operations following any disaster affecting City facilities.

Sherry Posey is the Interim Director of the Management Information Services Department. She has worked in the MIS department since December 1990 in various roles from Computer Programmer to Systems/Network Analyst III. In this current role she supervises 14 employees and provides direction for the technology solutions for all city departments. Sherry holds a B.S. degree in Accounting Information Services (AIS) from the University of West Florida.
